Midnight Oil opened the Year 2002 with a track that pulls a very positive punch, 'Golden Age', an introduction to their new album 'Capricornia' (released February 25 through Sony Music) is ringing out of radios around the country.

Announcing two performances only in both Sydney and Melbourne, the band will road test their new material with their loyal Australian fan-base before heading off on a U.S. tour taking up where they left off after last year's successful tour of North America and Canada when they thrilled a thirsty fan base.
Produced by Warne Livesey (Diesel & Dust, Blue Sky Mining) and recorded in Sydney's legendary Festival Studios throughout 2001, 'Capricornia'delivers the essence of the melody, the big choruses and the big rhythms synonymous with some of the great works of Midnight Oil's, yet is a definite rendition of it's time.

The year 2001 proved very active for Midnight Oil, a portrait of the band by tattoo artist eX de Medici (using mangrove bark pigment, water colour and gouache on vellum) placing the band in the forefront of the Ranger Uranium Mine was hung in The National Gallery in Canberra, they played The East Coast Blues Festival in Byron Bay for the first time, the cream of young local talent in this country gave homage to the band with a tribute album 'The Power & The Passion', and their single 'Beds Are Burning' took out the number 3 spot in the APRA Top 30 for the best and most significant works in the past 75years.

The year 2002 will be no different with the band planning to tour 'Capricornia' consistently in all major world territories. Midnight Oil astound audiences and critics alike with their high potent power packed performances, this short sharp surfacing of shows is but a glimpse to the deep broad base 'Capricornia' has.
